In this context, <strong>LIFE COSTAdapta proposes an innovative approach based on \u201ccoastal immunotherapy\u201d<\/strong>, reinforcing the natural mechanisms of the coastline to enhance its resilience against erosion and climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key strategies presented included:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a0<strong>The use of cobbles<\/strong> to strengthen the coast and mitigate the effects of extreme wave action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The design of ecological concrete structures<\/strong>, which not only protect the shoreline but also foster marine biodiversity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local participation and environmental studies<\/strong> to ensure solutions are adapted to the needs of coastal communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A progressive and modular implementation of the prototype<\/strong>, allowing adaptation to future scenarios such as rising sea levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The audience showed great interest in the social acceptance of the project and the use of concrete as a construction material. Alonso explained that the project location was chosen through a <strong>consensus process with stakeholders<\/strong> and that the concrete used has <strong>biodiversity-friendly properties<\/strong>, facilitating the colonization of marine species and integrating seamlessly into the ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About LIFE COSTAdapta<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>LIFE COSTAdapta is a pioneering project led by the <strong>Island Energy Council of Gran Canaria (CIEGC)<\/strong> and <strong>co-financed by the European Union through the LIFE Programme (60%)<\/strong>.
